On June 7th, in honour of Convergint’s annual Social Responsibility Day, colleagues around the globe spent a workday volunteering, creating a positive impact through diverse community projects.
Across the Asia Pacific region, hundreds of colleagues engaged in more than 20 activities spanning Australia, Greater China, India, Japan, New Zealand, Philippines, Singapore, and Thailand. These initiatives ranged from enhancing security systems at local schools and orphanages to supporting food banks, collaborating with environmental groups, and assisting various community organisations.
India
Colleagues across India joined forces to create a positive impact through a diverse array of environmental and community activities in Bengaluru, Gurugram, Mumbai, Chennai, and Hyderabad. Their efforts included planting trees to foster a greener, healthier ecosystem, to revitalising parks and school environments, and providing essential resources such as computers, school supplies, and food to local educational institutions. Additionally, in Bengaluru, the STEP Up (Secure, Train, Educate, Protect) program was implemented at a government school, where security surveillance systems were installed to enhance school safety. Meanwhile, Convergint Philippines teamed up with the DENR’s National Greening Program to plant more than 100 saplings in a river basin region outside Manila, contributing to environmental restoration.
Greater China
The team in Greater China actively engaged in a variety of community initiatives, from preparing meals at a local community centre in Hong Kong and distributing them to those in need, to conducting clean-up operations along hiking trails around Shenzhen. In Shanghai, Beijing, and Chengdu, colleagues visited orphanages and care centres for the elderly, autistic children, and marginalised individuals to carry out simple renovations, engage in activities with students and children, and upgrading security systems to enhance safety.
Oceania
Colleagues in Oceania engaged in a range of activities across Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Perth and Canberra, including assisting at community kitchens, participating in clothing recycling and donation initiatives, aiding the homeless, and engaging in environmental projects. Moreover, school supplies, food, and various essential items were donated to schools and individuals in need, and security systems were upgraded at various vulnerable sites through contributions from technology partners.
