On the 9th of June 2023, Convergint colleagues took part in Convergint Social Responsibility Day. Across the UK, colleagues worked on projects in local areas. One project was to work at the Hospice in the Weald.

Hospice in the Weald provides care for patients with a terminal illnesses, and those important to them, in West Kent and Northern East Sussex. Care is provided across their services and is completely free of charge. Hospice in the Weald is there 24 hours a day to help, support and care for patients with an illness where a cure is no longer possible, and for patients who will at some stage die from their illness.

Hospice in the Weald staff and volunteers are crucial in delivering outstanding Hospice palliative care. They are proud to be supported by over 1,000 volunteers across our Services and Departments, including our shops. Hospice in the Weald has 22 charity shops and 6 furniture shops dotted in and around Kent and East Sussex.

Convergint’s team of over 40 set out for the day to Hospice in the Weald, helping tend to the gardens around the Pembury site. A special thanks was given to Axis Communications for providing UK colleagues across the country with lunch boxes to keep the Convergint colleagues energised throughout the day.

The group was split into four teams:

  • Group 1: Helped with tidying the garden beds, and sweeping/cleaning the carpark.

  • Group 2: Helped with cleaning out a drain in the carpark.

  • Group 3: Helped with sanding down and re-paining the benches around the gardens.

  • Group 4: Helped with the gardening and maintenance of the gardens, including cutting back the bushes and cleaning a fountain on the terrace.

Each year in June, Convergint shuts down operations for a full workday in order to allow colleagues to go into their communities and contribute to those in need.
