With school safety becoming a growing concern, it’s critical for administrators and parents to do everything possible to proactively enhance the effectiveness of safety and security protocols in and around schools. In coordination with the Partner Alliance for Safer Schools (PASS), Convergint Technologies has integrated the PASS safety standards for K-12 school security projects.
Convergint has partnered with PASS to make a comprehensive school safety checklist available. The fourth edition of the checklist provides school administrators, school boards, and public safety and security professionals with guidelines for implementing a layered and tiered approach to securing and enhancing the safety of school environments. This document has been revised and expanded to cover best practices on a district-wide level and support additional areas, such as school transportation, cybersecurity, and emergency communications.
This security audit document from PASS lays out a list of standards developed by a coalition of law enforcement, security professionals, architects, and school administrators. It defines threats common to schools at each education level, including:
“The PASS standards ensure that schools have the appropriate security measures for their location. Combined with the knowledge of our highly experienced Convergint colleagues, we can help schools increase security and safety for students, educators, and staff.”
~Tony Varco, Vice President of Security for Convergint
Convergint will continue to provide additional resources to conduct a safety audit, to budget for safety enhancements, and to train school personnel.
