On October 3rd, the U.S. Department of Education released Notices Inviting Applications for two grant programs to increase access to mental health services for students and young people. These grant programs that were funded through the Bipartisan Safer Communities Act (BSCA). The BSCA invests in programs to help institute safety measures in and around primary and secondary schools.

The U.S. Department of Education doled out $1 billion to state education agencies (SEAs) with allocations designated as follows:
