That’s why it’s with great excitement that Convergint announces the sponsorship of the Irish Down Syndrome Sporting Organisation (IDSSO). Eammon Hartley, Marc Smith, and Nick Dempsey, esteemed members of the Convergint family, recently had the privilege of attending the final training session with the Down Syndrome Ireland Team, a remarkable group of athletes preparing to represent Ireland in the 7th Open European DSISO Swimming Championships in Italy in September.
As a company dedicated to making a positive impact, Convergint considers it a distinct honor to be a part of this incredible journey. The best wishes and heartfelt support were extended to all the talented athletes who proudly represented Down Syndrome Ireland in this prestigious championship this month.
The Irish Down Syndrome Sporting Organisation is a registered charity supporting opportunities for excellence through sport in persons with Down Syndrome. IDSSO is an entirely voluntary organisation with no paid staff. Their athletes are trained by coaches at their local club and by the IDSSO volunteer coaches to enable a standard to compete abroad at the International and World Down Syndrome Swimming Championships. To date, they have brought teams to compete in Ireland, U.K., South Africa, Italy, Portugal, Taiwan, France, Nova Scotia, Sardinia, and most recently in Albufeira, Portugal. The organisation does not receive annual funding from the state and relies mainly on the fundraising efforts of parents and friends of IDSSO. In this regard, everyone at IDSSO wants to thank Convergint for their generous donation, and for sponsoring the teams kit. Be assured that Convergint’s help will assist our athletes to avail of the opportunity to compete on an international stage, achieve their potential and ultimately realise their dreams.
