On Thursday, November 16th, the Convergint European Inclusion and Diversity (I&D) Council convened in the vibrant city of London for a day of insightful discussions and presentations. The gathering commenced with an opening address from Yaruba, Senior Vice President, I&D and North America Operations, Convergint, setting the tone for the day by providing an introduction to the purpose of the council, its inception, and the significance of front-line surveys in shaping its initiatives. The I&D EU tour was also joined by Laura Mueller, Chief Human Resources Officer, Convergint, and Jeroen Strik, Managing Director Europe, Convergint.
The day unfolded with a series of introductions, allowing each participant to share their motivations for joining the council. The diversity of backgrounds and perspectives within the group highlighted the commitment to fostering inclusivity and equality across various sectors.
One of the focal points of the day was an in-depth exploration of the I&D playbook. Participants delved into the strategies and best practices outlined in the playbook, emphasising its role as a guide for organisations striving to create more diverse and inclusive environments. The discussions also extended to the I&D Council’s collaboration with other affinity groups, including the Convergint Women Connect and Convergint Pride Alliance.
Navigating through the intricacies of I&D activities, the council provided a comprehensive overview of ongoing and upcoming initiatives in each quarter. The evolution of I&D within organisations was a central theme, underlining the need for continuous adaptation and growth in response to changing societal norms and expectations.
“The first meeting of the I&D council was the start of something big. Through the creativity and inputs of every single member we could shape an idea of how the I&D council can contribute to a more connected, more inclusive Convergint and how Convergint can enable every colleague to master his/her role.”

Highlights from the Ireland I&D Council meeting
“The inaugural meeting provided a unique opportunity for the Executive leadership team to spend the day working closely with the newly formed EU I&D council members. Participating in such a collaborative working session proved to be both exciting and promising as we collectively reviewed the output from recent front line feedback loops to develop a result based strategic plan focused on enhancing our culture and maximizing the colleague and customer experience. ”
– Yaruba Tate, Senior Vice President, I&D and North America Operations, Convergint
A crucial aspect addressed during the meeting was the responsibility of evolving and protecting the organisational culture. Participants emphasised the importance of aligning I&D efforts with the existing culture while driving positive change. This reflective discussion underscored the delicate balance required to implement inclusive practices without compromising the core values that define an organisation.
The council also discussed Convergint’s recent culture survey distributed to colleagues as a valuable instrument for collecting feedback from colleagues, enabling organisations to make data-driven decisions and refine their strategies for greater impact.
The European I&D Council’s meeting in London was a pivotal moment for fostering collaboration and sharing insights. The commitment displayed by the participants towards creating inclusive environments was evident throughout the day. As organisations continue to recognise the importance of diversity and inclusion, forums like the I&D Council serve as catalysts for positive change, shaping the future of workplace culture across the European landscape.
