Social Responsibility at Convergint India
At Convergint, we are committed to giving back to our local communities. This culture of giving back is embedded in our Values and Beliefs which recognise the importance of leading balanced lives—whether at home, work, or in our communities—and supporting those in need.
In India, our social responsibility activities focus on facilitating access to quality education, better healthcare facilities, improved health, hygiene and nutrition, and more. The first formal initiative by Convergint India Private Limited (formerly known as ICD Security Solutions India Pvt. Ltd.) was carried out in 2018.
Governance
Convergint India’s social responsibility activities are periodically reviewed and monitored by the Board’s Social Responsibility Committee, as per the requirements of Section 135 of the Companies Act, 2013. The committee is responsible for:
- Recommending a Social Responsibility Policy to the Board and indicating the activities to be undertaken by Convergint India Private Limited
- Recommending social responsibility activity spending
- Disclosing the content of the Social Responsibility Policy, including projects undertaken, in a report and on Convergint’s website
- Monitoring the implementation of activities included in the policy
- Monitoring Convergint India’s spending on social responsibility activities in each financial year, in compliance with the Companies Act, 2013
In calculating such proceeds, any wholly owned and partly owned subsidiaries, as well as overseas branches, shall not be considered.
Implementation
The operational procedure of Convergint India is aligned with the requirements of Clause 135 of the Companies Act, 2013. Proposals for new activities to give back to our local communities, as and when received, are evaluated in terms of appropriateness and alignment with the Social Responsibility Policy. Upon clearing the evaluation process, the proposed activity is also assessed by Convergint India’s Social Responsibility Committee for approval, as per the Social Responsibility Policy.
Convergint India’s Social Responsibility Committee
Convergint India’s Social Responsibility Committee consists of the following directors:
- Chaozhen Wang (Tony Wang)
- Kui Chuan Yap (Nicholas Yap)
- Narasimha Murthy Nagaraj
The responsibilities of the committee include:
- Formulating and recommending the Social Responsibility Policy and indicating to the Board of Directors the relevant activities to be undertaken
- Recommending social responsibility activity spending
- Monitoring activities
Our Contribution
Convergint India has been contributing to the eradication of hunger, poverty and malnutrition since 2018 by supporting the Akshaya Patra Foundation‘s Mid-Day Meal Scheme.
In 2018, ICD Security Solutions India Pvt. Ltd. (now Convergint India Private Limited) contributed 1,495,000INR (approx. 20,000USD) towards the Mid-Day Meal Scheme. Through this initiative, 1,343 government aided school children were served a mid-day meal every day over the period of one year, from April 1, 2018 to March 31, 2019. To recognise our contribution, the Akshaya Patra Foundation added our company logo to their vehicle which serves food to school children. Our entire Bengaluru team inaugurated the vehicle on its first day serving food.
An acknowledgement letter was received from the foundation for our contribution, as per the social responsibility obligation under Section 135 of the Companies Act, 2013.
