Ellis D. Stafford

Safety & Security Director, NRG Park

Ellis is the Director of Safety and Security of NRG Park. Most known as the home of the NFL’s Houston Texans, NRG Park spans 350 acers and includes NRG Center, NRG Arena, and Houston’s historic Astrodome. As the head of security for NRG Park, Ellis is responsible for the safety and security of millions of guests that visit the park every year as well as its employees. Ellis was previously the Operations Director of the Detroit Crime Commission, Ellis oversees day-to-day activities supporting public safety in the tri-county area, with a particular focus on law enforcement. In this role, Ellis prioritizes analytical and investigative activities while providing general oversight of the Commission’s non-public initiatives. Established as a 501(c)(3) organization in August, the Detroit Crime Commission works to identify gaps in service delivery by public safety organizations and develop solutions and partnerships to enhance community safety. Supported by various businesses and individuals in the Detroit area, the Commission plays a crucial role in promoting safety and security within the region.

As the Regional Director, for the Public Sector at Genetec, Stephen is responsible for developing strategies for the territory, working with our customers to better understand the needs of their organization, and assisting with outcome-based solutions that benefit the various stakeholders. Developing and implementing commercial strategies, working with our customers to address their organizational needs in today’s environment with a focus on establishing the bridge between physical security, and senior leadership, and guiding how best to maximize the technology for the internal departments.

Before joining Genetec, Stephen spent more than 26 years in various roles from system integration to distribution, and security consulting with a focus on risk mitigation in support of ProSecCon, Inc. when needed. For the past 16 years, he has been focused on bringing to market top-tier manufacturers in the security technologies market where he held a variety of management, strategic account management, and sales roles.
